The room was buzzing with an air of excitement and anticipation – and the audience was not disappointed. The compere was an old hand, expertly selling her wares – her skill obscured by the theatre of The Show, for this was what the crowd had come to see. Everything ran like clock-work. The models seemed as if born to it and I lost count of how many outfits were on display… but this was dwarfed by the 7 or 8 rails stuffed with clothes and all the names of the different labels – too many to recall. A brief hiatus when the raffle was drawn was followed by the thrill of the shopping experience… so many clothes of all sizes to try on in the ad hoc dressing room (on stage behind the curtains) … and most came away satisfied. A truly memorable evening, with much fun, was had by all.
A big thank you to the Darley Abbey W.I. for holding this event in aid of our Scouts’ Hall Fund and all those who supported them!
